The proud son of two educators, I initially went to college at Drake University for education way back in the 20th century. After working in biotechnology for 10 years, I finally changed careers and got my initial teacher license.
I taught high school science in Denver for ten years. Primarily a biology teacher, I also taught anatomy/physiology, zoology/botany, AP environmental science, chemistry, and physics.
I designed and coordinated the school’s ACT prep program, worked on a committee to redesign the district’s biology curriculum, and was a member of the district’s Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) deep dive team.
Recently, I worked as a paraeducator in an ASD center program in JeffCo and began tutoring students with autism, including those identified as G/T and 2e learners. I also earned a master’s degree in Special Education.
In my spare time, I enjoy road trips and trail running. I fancy myself a science fiction and 80s music aficionado. I’ve written three science fiction novels and self-published one of them.
